FIVE TIPS FOR A FIT AND HEALTHY HOLIDAY SEASON

Happy holidays, REB3L team!

I don’t know about you, but for me, this is the best time of the year. I always make a point of catching up with friends and family and enjoying the spirit of the holidays. Unfortunately, this is also the time of year when I find myself overcommitted and pressed for time! Anyone else??

When I get very busy, one of the first activities to go is working out. It seems like there is never enough time in the day and frankly there are so many other fun things to do that I don’t feel bad crossing fitness off my list.

That is, until January 1st. Then I start to seriously regret overindulging and missing all my workouts!

This year, I am going to RENEW my idea of fitness over the holidays. Want to join me? Here are my top five tips for staying fit and healthy through the holiday season.

Incorporate your favorite workouts into your holiday routine.

Now that we have our new online format of REB3L Groove, we have no excuses. Whether you’re visiting family or taking a vacation, all you need is your laptop, tablet, or smart phone, wifi, and a little bit of floor space. It’s such a great excuse to take a little time for yourself and do something that’s good for you.

Keep up with your toning workouts.

It takes a bit of upper body strength to lug around all those gifts, am I right? REB3L Strength is the perfect complement to the REB3L Groove cardio workouts, and keep you looking fit and strong, so you’re ready to show off your arms in those holiday dresses!

Stock up on fun gear.

There’s nothing like new workout gear to get you excited to put it on and put it to use! There are so many cute styles that can easily take you from your workout to the streets, and some even have fun and festive designs. My current favorite is Goldsheep! Try styling a pair like the plaid ones pictured above with a tank for working out, then switch it up with a scarf, vest, and boots for the perfect holiday shopping look! Of course a stylish beanie or hat completes the look (and also hides your post-workout hair 😉 )

Enjoy your treats without the guilt.

Between holiday meals, desserts, parties, and candy, there’s no shortage of temptation! Don’t try to be perfect and avoid it all – you have to enjoy yourself too. Allow yourself an occasional small dessert portion or a glass of wine from time to time, and don’t beat yourself up about it. Remember – one treat will not derail all the progress you’ve made. Just keep it in proportion!

Get outside.

It’s so easy to stay cozied up in the house watching movies and vegging out (and we all need that sometimes), but why not try an activity that gets the whole family outside and active? Grab your family or your best pals and go for a walk together checking out the neighborhood lights, or find a local skating rink to check out! If you live somewhere with snow, snowshoeing is a great workout you can all do together. Too cold? A trip to a museum will also get you walking, plus it’s educational and fun.

Enjoy the holidays and don’t forget to take time to stay strong!
